This Is the Most Respectful Way to Dress For a Funeral

Dressing for a funeral is really, really difficult. There"s a long list of rules around what"s appropriate to wear and what"s not; avoid colour, cover your shoulders, choose longer hemlines . . . the list goes on. And while most of these guidelines are to be respected, we think taking into consideration the person you"re honouring is always a good idea.

If they lived boldly, maybe something bright would be a beautiful way to say goodbye? Alternatively, if they were a little more old-school in their approach to life, then a dark, below-the-knee dress could be perfect.

The one thing you should never wear? Anything that you second-guess (or third-guess). If you find yourself stressing about your hemline length, then maybe it"s not right. Or if you feel the colour or print is too much, then swap it for a more muted tone.

As we pointed out earlier, every funeral is different and so the rules of dressing will sway. But, we have pulled together a bunch of outfits we think would be more than okay for a funeral if you"re stuck for ideas.
